our belief
What do we believe in? Our mission statement sums it up - "to know Jesus Christ and make him known".

As Christians, we look to Jesus Christ to find meaning and inspiration for our lives. Jesus didn't just give a good example for living human life, he also enables us to be transformed by a new and personal relationship he offers us with God. Without Jesus, life can seem meaningless, ending in death and nothingness. Jesus, through the perfect life he lived and the sacrificial death he died has opened for us a new way to eternal life. This means not just that we will live for ever, but that our lives will be free of so many of the paralysing guilt feelings and anxieties that prevent us fulfilling our true potential.

How does he do this? He is able to because following his death nailed to a cross and his burial in a tomb, Jesus was raised from the dead. On Easter Day his tomb was found to be empty, and various witnesses, among them his closest friends, saw him alive on more than one occasion. The Christian scriptures contained in the Bible bear witness to this, and to this day Christians believe that when two or three are gathered in Jesus' name, he will be there among us to hear our prayer. In Church, we believe that Jesus is present in a special way when we share in the blessed bread and wine of Holy Communion (the Eucharist). This spiritual meal also serves to strengthen our lives as Christians as we are sent out into the world to live and work to God's praise and glory.

It is a truly transforming experience. Becoming a Christian should lead to a deep sense of joy, a wonder at the power of God's Spirit at work in our lives, and a sense of thankfulness as we realise how God has forgiven us those things we have done that we are ashamed of.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Christian faith, why not come along to this or any other Christian church. In Verwood, you will certainly receive a warm welcome!

Knowing Jesus Christ is a life-changing experience, because to know Jesus Christ is to find the meaning of life itself.

The Church of England website states that Anglicans "understand the Nicene creed to be a sufficient statement of the Christian faith". Read it here.
